Yuma Proving Ground Environmental Restoration Data Exchange Web Site
A U.S. Army web site supports remedial activities while providing critical information to stakeholders.
Need/Opportunity
- Develop an IRP project management support tool
- Inform stakeholders about project activities
- Access and manage complex data sets
The Installation Restoration Program (IRP) at Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) involves investigation and cleanup of numerous potentially contaminated sites. The information management and communications activities of the IRP include collecting, and utilizing large amounts of complex information such as sampling data, documents, maps, and photos. Typically, regulatory agencies, the public, and other stakeholders are involved in conducting these activities and require convenient access to the data. To minimize the complexities of information management and communications, a web site was needed.
Approach
- Project management support features
- Web-enabled sample results database
- Extensive, multi-format document library
- Interactive display of spatial data
- Database reports in tab-delimited, downloadable format
- Varying levels of web site access
- Web site administrator access with web interface
The Yuma Proving Ground Environmental Restoration Data Exchange Web Site was created to support IRP management and cleanup activities and provides a permanent information resource for affected stakeholders. The web site contains many project management features and tools including project news, calendar, and contact information for project personnel. Sample results data is accessed by drilling down through the web-enabled database or by constructing queries based on data fields. Users view summary reports according to solid waste management units (SWMU) and then link directly to a detailed report about a particular site or facility.; Historical summaries, maps, photos, and other documents are available for viewing or downloading. EVS's MaD Browser is used for interactive display of spatial data about SWMUs. Security measures allow access restriction and usage tracking.
