Baseline and Projected Water Demand Data for Energy and Competing Water Use Sectors |
The links between energy and water and the growing concerns about the adequacy of U.S. water supplies point to the need for data on water consumption by potentially competing economic sectors. Projected water consumption estimates can help identify possible locations and time periods in which energy production could be constrained because of competition for limited water resources. This report provides estimates of domestic freshwater demand as expressed by consumption (not withdrawal) to the year 2030 in five-year increments at the national and regional levels for energy and nonenergy uses.
